About

The Siaw-Tao Chinese Seal Carving, Calligraphy, and Painting Society was founded in 1971 by recent NAFA graduates Tan Kian Por, Lee Hock Moh, Tan Kee Sek, Lim Buan Chay, etc. The Society allowed members to hold regular meetings, where they exchanged views on and dedicated themselves to the traditional Chinese art forms of seal carving, calligraphy and painting.

Alongside their tireless and innovative practice, our senior members have for the past 50 years nurtured a new generation of artists. The Society has grown from strength to strength, and now boasts 107 Singaporean and overseas members.

The society has held, without exception, an annual exhibition for the past 50 years. These exhibitions allow our members to present their artworks, sustaining their interests. The recently-established ‘Outstanding Artwork’ and ‘Excellent Artwork’ prizes have encouraged our members to strive towards greater heights.

As an active art organisation, Siaw-Tao has encouraged our members to be active in the local arts scene. The Society also supports our members in hosting overseas exhibitions or collaborating with international art organisations.
